Normally I leave these things alone but I want to bring out some verses about the Temple that stood in the days of the Messiah.
Matthew 24: [1](https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-24-1/) And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to *him* for to shew him the buildings of the temple. [2](https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-24-2/) And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, **There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
**
Mark 13:1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! 2 ** **And Jesus answering said unto him, **Seest thou these great buildings (plural, all of the temple complex)? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. **
Luke 19:43** **For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44** **And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and **they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another**; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Luke 21:5** **And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6** **As for these things which ye behold, the days will come,** in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.**
An interesting choice of words ‘thrown down’. Josephus records that after the destruction of the Temple by fire the Roman soldiers used the surviving Jews to dismantle the stones of the Temple to extract the melted gold that had ran into the cracks of the stones. Maybe that’s what the Messiah is referring to in Luke 19:43.
The Messiah is accused of blasphemy against the temple and against Elohim at his trial, treason was His sentence of death
Matthew 26:61** **And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. 62** **And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 63** **But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 63** **But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64** **Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 65** **Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. 66** **What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
Stephen accused of blasphemy against the ‘holy place’ as the Messiah had also been accused.
Acts 6: 13** **And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
As for me, with all of the scriptural references telling us not ONE stone was to be on top and another, but were to be thrown down, if then, one stone from Solomon’s Temple or Herod’s Temple was left standing one of top of the other after 70 CE the Messiah of the New Testament was a false prophet. It’s really that simple. An Old Testament prophet could not miss prophecy even one time or he was considered a false prophet.
The whole Temple compound was considered part of the Temple. Matthew 13 covers all of the buildings of the complex with its plural word ‘buildings’. Roman soldiers were forbidden from entering into the Temple as recorded in Josephus and later verified by the discovery of the stone plaque warning that hung on the wall of the women’s court. From the foundation to the outer walls of the women’s court and everything in between, it was Holy, set apart, and forbidden to the Gentiles and considered to be the Temple.
All of it, even a built-up foundation must have been torn down or the prophecy did not come true. But! Josephus says it did happen. It worth you time to read his account of the destruction of the Temple. He said the only thing left standing was in J’lem the Roman fortress.Updated Jul 27, 2019, 3:29 PM
