The new arrival came today. Lorie. She is the sweetest 10-year-old girl….but….she is blind. I’m not even sure her owners knew this. One thing is for sure they loved her and cried when they left her with me.

If an African Grey is acclimated to their cage and surrounding you might not know or notice something isn’t right. They kept telling me ‘she is scared’. No, those big eyes are not full of fear they are without vision.

Lorie doesn’t turn her head towards movements. She does not look at objects. She searches for things with an open beak. If she hears a noise she turns her head towards the noise. She can even be touched and doesn’t know that you are going to touch her. No wonder she is a feather plucker. She breaks my heart.

Lorie will be here forever. With time, trust, and patience I hope to make her world a happier, safer place in which she will thrive.

It’s going to be ok Lorie you are home now.

The owners of Lorie did donate NIS200 about $56 that will be saved towards the HEPA filter that’s needed for the bird-room. The HEPA filter is $245. Please consider donating and share this post. Thank you for caring.

Please read all of the comments through both posts. It’s a two person chain post. The people I posted from is a personal friend. Recognise by the map this could well affect the barley inspections. It will depend largely on where they actually place walls. Yes, once they start building walls they won’t stop. (Lebannon has a solid walled border to protect us from them; as does Gaza already) The Gaza perimeter is our richest grain basket in Israel.

The words ‘sitting ducks’ come to mind. All they are doing is gathering and limiting the movement of the people and WHEN there is infiltration the carnage will be heartbreaking.

I am praying that they don’t box the people in. All of this constant attack on the people down near Gaza needs to stop.Updated Aug 13, 2019, 1:00 PM

While waiting on my waffle iron to arrive I made a happy experiment.

This is the chaffle recipe: 1/2 cup mozzarella plus one egg. I added two tablespoons of 100% almond, almond butter. A big pinch of Italian seasoning, a modest pinch of salt and a scant 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder.

The recipe makes two buns.

I cooked the buns in a preheated cast iron skillet that went directly in a 180c oven for 12 minutes. Zero eggy taste.

That’s a corned beef, with a couple of the cooked cabbage leaves, home made half sour fermented pickles, mustard & mayo (yeah, I know. Dont judge the mayo on corned beef it’s my belly :).

I’m in my fourth year of residency as a non-Jew married to a Jew. If I hold my mouth just right I may get a residency in 2020.

I’m hearing imparted so learning Hebrew is coming extremely slowly and with great effort.

Now for the question. Last year in February I was issued a tz that is blue and looks more like my husband’s than my previous larger pink one. Today while trying to exchange my expired pre-paid visa card at the post office for a new visa they told me my tz has not been opened (activiated?) that there should have been a text with some numbers. It was all very vague….

Can anyone tell me what I need to do now to have an officially activated tz? Please don’t tell me to call. I’ll never hear well enough to figure out prompts. Online? I can translate pages with google.Updated Aug 11, 2019, 1:41 PM

I had the most precious experience.

I asked about 8 little Israeli boys and girls if they wanted to see the new moon that was not yet obvious in the sky through the camera. Everyone of them looked through the camera and there was an abundance of ‘wow’s. Heavenly Father please, please water those seeds in those little lives .
