Here’s the announcement that you all have been waiting for:

On July 1 we will be relocating to Massad, Israel. We will still be in the Galilee and our view of the Kinneret will be a bit more distant with a higher elevation.

Masad is surrounded by (really it sits on) the Har Kotz Nature Reserve. Among the trees found there are carob, mastic, Valonia oak, Christ’s Thorn, Palestine oak, and Jerusalem thorn. The nature reserve derives its name from Mount Qotz (292 m), named for a priestly family that migrated to the Galilee from Jerusalem after the destruction of the Second Temple. Massad is on the “Jesus trail”, as it is called. The Jesus Trail is a very ancient trail between Nazareth and Capernaum that is known to have been used by those in Nazareth traveling to the Sea of Galilee. Imagine! What a blessing!

In approximately, August after we have had time to unpack and settle the milk goats and sheep will start arriving and I will be learning the very ancient art of shepherding a flock on an Israeli mountain of 350 acres. EeeeKKkkkk! I’m over the moon, knowing that this is a direction that has been chosen for us to walk and what we will learn: The good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. All of it will paint a picture that I have every intention of delivering to you in photos and videos along the way.

There will be challenges and hopefully not too many dangers from the Bedouins i.e. that cut through the parameter wires to steal flocks. We desire your prayers about these and other possible situations that might arise.

Nine months of the year there will be milking. Cheese and kefir to be made. Three months of the year there will be fleece to process into felted wool!

So I have a LOT of things to get going in the next 30-days and I can’t promise you regular news delivery or a regular presence in this group.Updated Jun 2, 2018, 2:11 AM
