I hope this post is allowed. I just want to encourage new people to the SC program not to throw in the towel too quickly like I almost did.
I have a long term complication from RNY gastric bypass that causes a condition that responds to food like a brittle type 2 diabetic. So by necessity, I watch the scales AND the keto/glucose numbers daily. Even though my body will still autocorrect itself I don’t want to burn out those receptors that are overworked when my glucose spikes. Just a few little carbs, smaller than for most, really cause issues. This also makes me insulin resistant, all because of the bypass I had 18 years ago.
Having recently learned about this condition I understand why it’s hard for me to lose the weight that has been creeping back on and WHY the weight is creeping back on. Insulin-resistance is a nasty beast.
My first round was SK and I lost 12 pounds. Coming into SC I gained three pounds and had to MAKE myself continue. My numbers were great in my daily readings blood monitor reading, but I was terrified that somehow I wouldn’t be able to continue because the pounds would continue to keep coming back.
I’m now on day 9 and whatever-those-pounds were have left again. And in the meantime, call me crazy, my body has been redistributing the weight that I still want to lose so the I look more shapely and less misshapen.
Don’t give up too soon. Everyone is right, trust the process.Updated Sep 30, 2020, 1:15 PMPublished on Sep 29, 2020, 3:54 PM
