Everyone here knows someone that’s well placed. Most of my neighbors have served in the IDF, I can’t tell you how many people I know that have been in intelligence. You must understand that Israel is a very tiny nation. It’s smaller than the state of New Jersey in the USA. It’s 22,145 sq.km (8,630 sq. miles).
Since everyone knows someone that’s well placed when the locals talk I listen. That’s where the real news is. The soldiers aren’t supposed to ‘speak’ about certain things but they have a way of filtering into the families of soldiers nonetheless.
So, I was in the listening-mode today. Rumor has it that the three-week lockdown we are getting ready to go into is actually going to pan out to be 6 months. I honestly wasn’t too surprising because my other Israel born friend told me that lockdowns by increasing degrees are to keep the citizens from rioting. They used this method leading up to the national Week of Pesach. If they just announced a 6-month lockdown there will be chaos, but by incrementally increasing it overs a span of time, it will give the citizens time to adjust.Updated Sep 16, 2020, 11:20 PM
