I’m changing up the format to the group a bit.
1) Because I am sharing some aspects of my personal life I will be changing the group to a ‘secret’ setting for my own protection. At first, I thought to change the group as ‘closed’, but with this setting, it can be located by the general Facebook public and names can be read. On the posts about the aspect of my personal life, the comments will be turned off.
2) Posts on news articles will be open for comment. As always you are welcome to post a scripture to the article, express joy or disappointment. My goal will still be that theological debates do not ensue so that I must spend hours reading through threads.
2a) if you don’t agree with someone’s scripture or comments please feel free to send them a friend’s request and take the debate to their PM or Facebook page. If you post things that I don’t think apply (as in ‘kill all the Muslims’) OR any threads that ensue/ verges /tempts debate I will hide the comments and not delete them. Why hid? Because deleted posts have been reposted when the person posting believes they made a posting mistake. Hidden posts can be seen by the person who posted it but the rest of the group cannot see it. It makes my life easier.
3) Please DO post question if you want a scriptural reason for the manner in which I honor the calendar, feasts, or sabbath. Maybe I will create a file with these question for the group, idk, that takes some time I don’t feel I currently have to give 🙂 If you have a curiosity about my general life, ask a question, that’s ok.
4) You are welcome to share all news articles that I post, however with the secret setting you will need to click on the link and share it from the original source. With a private setting on the group, you will not be able to click a share button
5) You are welcome to share my comments on the news, this need to be achieved by a copy and paste from your computer.
6) You are welcome to add members or send members to the group, they will continue to be approved.
7) You are welcome to share a link from my website but again will need to share it from the website and not this group due to the secret setting I will be maintaining for a while.
If you share these things above PLEASE do not link my name (as in @-Becca-Biderman) to any of your posts OTHER THAN the news, yes, you can link me to the news. I do NOT need credit for my words, truly. Feel free to use quotation marks to indicate you are not posting your own words as you may have noticed is my manner when I don’t supply the source; if such a thing bothers you.
Why am I doing this? Social media has a long life and long tentacle. Since we are planning to relocate to an Orthodox community I need to protect myself from the supposition that I am on a mission to convert them, the quickest way to be an outcast in an Orthodox community is to be dubbed a missionary. I need to be who I am by my actions and love first; then by my words and beliefs when asked.
